Town Mayor of Margate

NEWS RELEASE.

Celebration of Community Diversity

The Town Mayor of Margate, Councillor Shaun Connell and the Charter Trustees will once again be supporting the Margate Festival of Fun with a special one day "Celebration of Community Diversity".

The Festival itself takes place over three days - 18-20 August, and as part of this programme the one day celebration event has been planned for Saturday 19 August.

The Mayor would like as many people as possible to have the chance to get involved this year. "We want to make the most of the public space available in and around the Old Town, and at the same time offer individuals and groups a chance to reach a wide audience."

"We welcome performers, artists, craftspeople or anyone who would like to take advantage of this offer. Our community is very diverse in backgrounds and interests and this is something to celebrate."

"Last year's 'celebration' was a great success, and we would like to build upon that by broadening both the active involvement and the content of the event."

"Pleased to meet you, Mr Punch."

In addition to organising the community diversity celebration, the Mayor will be opening the Parlour to the public from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on the day. Visitors will be given a tour of the Old Town Hall and a chance to meet the Mayor along with some of the Charter Trustees.

The Mayor would be pleased to hear from any community groups, performers or artists who would like to get involved.
